Shannen Tan is an actor and a fresh Psychology & Theatre Studies graduate from NUS. Incidentally, her thesis is on the psychology of acting.

Her recent acting and stage credits include: Web of Deceit by Paper Monkey Theatre, Caught by Singapore Repertory Theatre, Anything Can Happen / Something Must Happen by Wild Rice, The Old Woman and the Ox by Second Breakfast Company, Toy Factory Productions’ The Wright Stuff: A Piece of Cake and M1 Fringe Festival’s Pretty Butch by Tan Liting.

Whilst in school, she worked under theatre practitioners Peter Sau, Felipe Cervera and Natalie Hennedige as an actor. As an aspiring multi-hyphenate, she studied playwriting under Faith Ng and presented her first script at Dark Matter Theatrics’ Eat My Shorts during Singapore Night Festival 2017. In 2018, she was an access support worker for Peter Sau’s Project Tandem and Front-of-House Manager for And Suddenly I Disappear…The Singapore ‘d’ Monologues directed by Philip Zarilli. She became a creative mentor and director to Project Tandem: Making a Stand - the very first local disability-led theatre project in Singapore.

Apart from theatre, she makes various appearances in films and music videos. She also believes in continuous training and is currently in the 5th cohort of young & wild under the tutelage of Edith Podesta. To supplement her knowledge about bodies and movement, she was recently certified by American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer.
